There are several items in the current Law governing home inspectors that I would like to see changed.
1. the 5,ooo dollar bond requirement. What is it going to do the help the general public? For the new inspector it is a burden that does not acturally help the customer.
2. There should be a requirement that new inspectors serve either an apprenticeship or take an approved inspection course. I have seen several new inspectors come and go who had no idea what they were suppost to be doing. The customer was the one who paid the price. These customer were not able to collect on the bond.
3.The continuing education requirements be aceptable to the state when the classes are approved by the national organizations. So that any class that is approved by ICC, ASHI, NAHI etc is automaticly accepted by the state with out the long process that is required now.
4. The Fire marshall sets the codes to be used by home inspectors to used in new construction 1 & 2 family inspections. I know it is kind of done by inference but I would like to see a real connection with the requirement that they notify us of changes.
